Welcome Back Licensed Staff

Licensed staff were welcomed back to District 742 to a catered breakfast by St. Cloud Education Association (SCEA) and District members entertaining the crowd with music.
"Go Far Together" is the theme for 2017-18 school year. Director of equity services, Sebastian Witherspoon, warmed up the crowd with some call-outs with school pride. Science teachers used District colors to shoot out foam from beakers to kickoff the new year.
Superintendent Willie Jett welcomed back staff and set the tone for this year's theme referring to late U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone in quoting, "We all do better when we all do better."
Board chair, Al Dahlgren addressed the crowd congratulating staff on a job well done this past year. Dahlgren, also reported that segregating the comparable data to neighboring districts, District 742 students performed and tested higher than their neighboring counterparts.
The surprise guest speaker, U.S. Senator Al Franken, was greeted with cheers, screams and applause. Franken shared his own experience of how his own fourth-grade teacher made a difference in his life. He described his continual to fight for students to be measured on the growth because he believes that we "go far together."
