Clearview and Lincoln in Distance Learning until Nov 16
St. Cloud Area School District prioritizes the health and safety of all our learning communities and has implemented and refined rigorous health protocols that help limit the transmission of COVID-19 inside of our schools. Although our focus is on seeing all students back in school, every day and in person, positive community case rates continue to rise.
New guidance from MDE, MDH, and Stearns County health officials recommends not relying on county data alone to determine learning models, but instead reviewing multiple data points: county health data, the impact of COVID-19 on our local community, and the impact of COVID-19 on our district and individual schools. Measures of COVID-19 impact include both health conditions and operational status in each school and district (e.g., classroom teacher shortages, lack of paraeducators, nutritional staff or bus drivers).
Due to multiple staff members and students in quarantine as a result of COVID positive status, symptoms, or exposure at Clearview and Lincoln Elementary Schools, both Clearview and Lincoln will transition to distance learning for 14 days beginning Monday, November 2 to support further contact tracing, cleaning, and risk analysis.
On Wednesday, October 28, the Clearview school community was notified of the transition to distance learning until November 4 to support contract tracing and risk analysis. Based on MDE and MDH officials’ recommendations and operational challenges, Clearview will now remain in distance learning until November 16 to ensure a safe and healthy environment upon return to hybrid instruction.
18% of Clearview’s licensed staff, along with additional non-licensed staff and students, are currently in extended quarantine periods due to COVID positive cases, exposures, or symptoms.
In addition, based on MDE and MDH officials’ recommendations and operational challenges, Lincoln Elementary will transition to distance learning for 14 days beginning Monday, November 2 to support further contact tracing, cleaning, and risk analysis. Lincoln students will return to their regular hybrid schedule on Monday, November 16. Parents will receive further information in SeeSaw regarding the distance learning schedule for these days.
16% of Lincoln’s licensed staff, along with additional non-licensed staff and students, are currently in extended quarantine periods due to COVID positive cases, exposures, or symptoms.
Grab and Go meals on distance learning days can be picked up at any elementary school from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. or at scheduled neighborhood delivery stops. Parents who are essential workers and need childcare during these distance learning days may sign up at Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota: https://www.bgcmn.org/kidstop/
We continue to monitor daily conditions in our schools and across the district as community transmission rates rise.
