Tech Students Capture Two SkillsUSA State Titles
Tech's SkillsUSA club took five individuals to the State Championships
in Bloomington, MN held April 1-3.
Junior, Josh Herrmann, took first place honors in the Cabinet Building contest and qualified for Nationals. He also won a $750 scholarship to Alexandria Technical College. Tristan Kiffmeyer took first place in the Tool and Equipment written contest and also placed second in Mechanics Dexterity skill demonstration.
Thanks to Woodcraft Industries, North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters and Foley Lumber for their financial support. The team was able to compete with very little out-of-pocket expenses.
Herrmann will be competing June 20-24 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Central Minnesota Builders Association (CMBA) is sponsoring his trip to Nationals.
Bill Garceau, Tech team advisor, is very appreciative of the community’s
support of these highly skilled students who proudly represented Tech at the
State Competition. Congratulations to
the entire team as they are all champions!
