Apollo High School Receives $150,000 SME PRIME Grant
Students and staff at Apollo High School are excited to be the first school in the state of Minnesota to receive an SME PRIME grant. An SME PRIME (Partnership Response in Manufacturing Education) school is described a "national network where students have opportunities to participate in job shadowing, mentoring, co-ops and apprenticeships to gain career-related knowledge and work experience that will extend their learning beyond the classroom. Students also learn critical soft skills such as communications, problem-solving and teamwork."
Funds will go towards equipment, curriculum, training and even field trips- preparing students for real-world experience and opportunities. The program is open to all students!
For a school to become a PRIME school, area businesses must agree to invest and partner with SME and the school district. Thanks to C4 Welding, CWMF, Grede, IPM and Park Industries, this program is possible.
