Apollo High School Social Science Teacher
Courses that I teach throughout the school year include:
Senior to Sophomore Economics: Economics 201
This course is taught in conjunction with St. Cloud State University. Seniors must rank in the top third of their class to register for this particular course. Upon completion, students will have earned three college credits.
Economics 201 is taught in one trimester at Apollo High School. This introductory course presents students with an overview of the social science of economics by examining real-world issues. This course covers the two broad fields of economics: microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics is the study of decisions made by consumers, businesses and other individuals typically within the context of markets, and the outcomes of these decisions, especially as they relate to the determination of prices. Macroeconomics is the study of the economy as a whole-the general level of economic activity as measured by GDP, and how government policy affects these variables. A critical analysis of the real-world social issues and government policies will better prepare students to be active and informed citizens.
In this course students will study how individuals, households, businesses, and governments use scarce resources to satisfy their unlimited wants and needs.
Students will learn United States history beginning with Exploration and Colonization continuing up to the 1990"s. The course will examine the various themes of history including social, economic, political, technological, and cultural history in a chronological format.
