We asked current Tech students what they wanted to know about the new Tech High School. Click on their questions below and find out the answers!

When can we see the new school?
The new school will open to our students and families on Tuesday, August 27 between 4-8 p.m. at Orientation. Staff will begin moving in the week prior, and we are excited to have that time to prepare to welcome you to your new school.

What if we have issues with our schedules?
Please contact your school counselor. They’ll be working out of the old school throughout August as the final touches are completed on the new high school. More information about how to change your schedule can be found in parent letter that will be mailed on August 9.

Will there be lockers and if so what size?
Yes! We will have a locker available for every student. The lockers measure approximately 12 x 18 x 18 inches. You’ll be able to fit much more inside these lockers than at the old school.

What athletic facilities does the new school have?
The new school has an incredible array of athletic facilities. These include: pool, three court main gym and one court auxiliary gym, multipurpose activities room, fitness room, multipurpose outdoor stadium, four multipurpose grass fields, three softball fields, two baseball fields, and eight-court outdoor tennis facility.

What arts facilities are at the new school?
The new school features a state of the art 800 seat auditorium; choir, orchestra, and band ensemble rooms and small group practice rooms; 2D and 3D art studios.

What will food service look like at Tech next year? Are there new ala carte options available? Breakfast options?
With the new cafeteria facilities, we will be able to offer students a “food court” feel. For example, there will be five serving lines each offering different menu options. A few exciting new options include a boneless chicken wing bar and yogurt and toppings bar. Eventually, we also hope to include a top your own waffle bar and smoothie station.

Will student parking still require a paid permit?
Yes, the fee to park on campus is $100.00. This fee is the same charge as last year and at Apollo.

Will there be a bell system?
Yes, we will still have a bell system.

What are options during open periods?
To maximize students’ educational experiences, there are fewer open periods for students this year. However, for students with open periods, the options include studying in the following learning spaces: the commons and learning resource center.

I heard that teachers are moving classrooms throughout the day. How will I know where to go?
The teacher’s location is noted on your schedule. However, if teachers are changing their location during the week based on the learning needs of students, we will notify students via the monitors located throughout the school.

How are the classrooms organized?
We have three learning neighborhoods located throughout the school that house the majority of Science, Social Studies, Math, EL, and Language Arts classes. Ninth grade students will take many of their classrooms in one neighborhood. The neighborhoods are color coded and very easy to locate.

Will all the same classes be offered?
Yes, we will offer our same array of courses plus some exciting new classes such as EPIC and others that make great use of our fabrication, FACS, and art labs.
