Mr. Finkbeiner is honored and excited to serve parents, students, and staff as principal at Madison Elementary School for the second year.  He comes to Madison with 16 years administrative experience, having recently moved from Montana to be closer to family in Minnesota. A graduate of Kansas State University, Finkbeiner started his career working with children as a primary counselor in group homes, which led to him creating a program for runaways in Atchinson, Kansas. His passion for education grew and he returned to school at Wichita State University, earning his teaching and administrative degrees.

After earning his degrees, he served as principal and deputy superintendent in a rural mountain town in Colorado, principal of an elementary and middle school for severely emotionally disturbed children in a large, urban district in Wichita, Kansas. He was also the principal of an elementary and middle school on the Salish and Kootenai reservation in Montana. After arriving in Minnesota last year, he served as an assistant principal at Tech High School. Finkbeiner is passionate about creating learning environments that are reflective, restorative and serve all needs of the students and families that walk through the doors. He believes that through parental and community connections, relationships, reflection and relentless compassion, Madison will continue striving for excellence.  He is proud to be a Mustang.

Finkbeiner loves spending time with his wife and two children. His hobbies are building and customizing old cars with his son and coaching and watching his daughter’s softball games.
