2024 Lead in Water Test Results
-
In 2024, all our faucets were tested for levels of Lead in Water. According to the Department of Health, traces of lead in water at a level of 20 ug/L or higher is considered above limits. Out of 772 faucets that were tested, 19 were found to have levels of lead that were above 20 ug/L. This prompted a retest, as is standard practice.
Water was flushed through the system in those faucets. On the second round of testing, out of the 19 original faucets out of range, five were still found to contain levels of lead that were out of range, and one sink was not functioning properly.
At this stage, four of the five faucets have been capped, meaning water has been disabled from those faucets. One has been replaced and is being retested until the levels of lead subside to the appropriate range. The sink that was not functioning properly is currently being fixed with a vendor utilized by the school district and will be tested immediately.
Capped Sinks:
- Apollo, room 510Z
- McKinley, room 26
- Westwood, room 142
- Westwood, room 10
