    EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING

    Early Childhood Screening is designed for children between the ages of 3 and 4 years. Screening supports a child’s readiness for Kindergarten, promotes positive health, and developmental outcomes, and identifies possible learning or health concerns. This screening is required prior to kindergarten entrance in a public school. Screening is completed at our Early Childhood Center.

    EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION
    Early Childhood Special Education is available for families who have questions or concerns about their child’s development.  Infants, toddlers, and preschool age children can be referred to the Early Childhood Special Education Team to determine if they are eligible to receive Early Childhood Special Education service.  Services are provided at no cost to families.

     

    Referral Process:

    When a referral is made, a team member interviews a parent or legal guardian to gather information about the child’s medical history and developmental skills.  The information is reviewed to determine if further testing is appropriate.  If an evaluation is completed and the child meets the Minnesota State Department criteria under a disability category, the child is eligible to receive Special Education service.
